I found that I could read a lot during that newborn stage by keeping my e-reader next to the rocking chair. Paperbacks need two hands and didn't work, but the Kindle worked well.

Anyways, congrats again!

My brain's been pretty much oatmeal from lack of sleep, which has been a real impediment--but today I'm feeling sharper and the e-reader is definitely the way to go!

Yeah, I remember that part too.

I love this! My reading memories of that time were small snippets of books on my kindle while my baby nursed at night. Such a special time!

Your description places me right there in that period of my life when a newborn made everything seem like one long day, with cycles of light and dark. All I could read, when I felt able (a rare feeling), were stories like Kidnapped. With another child on the way, this paints such a vivid picture of what to expect, happily, once again. Congratulations!

Congratulations! They’re the best. Wait till it starts smiling at you though.

I've already gotten some miniature fake smiles (almost certainly from gas pain) and those are good enough... the real thing will probably lay me flat for a few days!

Congratulations on the baby! My parents were both academics, so they read a lot, and that’s definitely what made me a reader. Wishing your family all the best :)

It goes so incredibly fast. It's okay to live in those moments right now.

Having kids is a constant balancing act when it comes to your priorities. You want to be the best example you can be, but they're never going to fault you for prioritizing them and time with them over (say) reading...
